Dingoes in Australia

In the 1880s, Australians built the world's longest fence,
stretching 3,400 miles, to stop dingoes attacking sheep in the
country's southeast.

This is a photo of the dingo fence that crosses the Birdsville Track in Outback South Australia. Rather unimpressive isn't it?

Dingoes have always been a thorn in the flesh of Australian sheep breeder, but in some places it seems the dingo has become a problem to humans, or vice versa? Read this story.

I thought it was a rabbit proof fence, deep under the ground, to prevent the rabbits to invade the continent.

Thanks for your comment Frankie.

Actually, the rabbit proof fence is in Western Australia, and the dingo or dog fence stretches from Queensland to South Australia. Both fences claim to be the longest fence, however, I think the dingo fence is the longest.
